Did anyone by any chance receive a scholarship from CACI? We’re still hoping and praying!!

S received notification in the mail today of winning corporate “special” scholarship administered by NMSC.

Letter includes the statement " If you wish to be considered for more than the minimum amount, you and your family must have financial information reported to NMSC"

HOW DO I DO THIS?

Also says, “If you file a CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Application, please return this form to NMSC when you know the specific amount of other financial awards you will receive. As soon as possible, you will be notified if there is any change in your Special Scholarship stipend”

HOW DO I DO THIS?
It only lists spots for other award/$ amount/renewable?

This is our first go-around with this. Any info on how the whole thing works would be appreciated!

You may want to correct your FAFSA application and include NMSC as a recipient while your waiting to hear from any scholarship applications you submitted. Then they can looking at adjusting the award if need is demonstrated. Once you receive your other scholarship notifications, you would need to let NMSC know of these amount, so that, if necessary, a final adjustment could be made to the NMSC.

But they are very helpful folks at NMSC, so the best may be just to give them a call on monday.

Good Luck & Congrats

When the NMSC asks for “other scholarships and financial awards accepted” do they want the full financial aid offer from the school including grants etc, or are they only interested in “outside”, non-institutional aid. What I’m looking at is whether receiving a nice financial aid package from the college will hurt chances of getting more than the minimum stipend from the corporate scholarship.

I got my letter from SAIC today, too. They should becoming before the end of March.

I just talked to NMSC. They started mailing out corporate scholarship notifications from March 10 and some may still be going out. The NMSC award scholarships will go out on 25th. So if you think you are eligible for a corporate award and have not received anything, you might want to check with NMSC

Spoke with helpful people at NMSC. Apparently they left out the important “memo” in my packet. You need to send CSS/PROFILE infor to NMSC code 0085 if the award you’ve won has a range and you are applying for more than the minimum.
They begin looking at the financial info in MAY and we should hear shortly thereafter. More waiting. Oh goodie.

We also submitted the CSS Profile to NMSC today. I sure hope we hear about the range amount before May! That is kind of an important piece of information for deciding on school. Anyone from last year remember how long it took for corporate scholarship range to be reconsidered?

I got a letter today stating that I have received a corporate scholarship from ADM. Congrats to other NM Scholars!

Congrats to all!

What is the range for that corporation? (BTW…did they want both CSS and FAFSA? That seems odd. What if your child was attending a FAFSA only school?)

We haven’t received anything by mail. Do they notify you either way?

If you are a National Merit Finalist competing for a NM Corporate award you probably have been notified. If you entered the corporate competition and were not a NMF, I believe those award letters will be coming out towards the end of March. If you did not get a corporate award you will be notified in May. This allows them to fill any awards that were turned down. (This was via a friend who called National Merit yesterday).

^^ Our particular corporate award was for a minimum of $3,000/year. In prior years, and I’m assuming for this year, the range will be $3,000 - $8,000/year

We were asked to submit the CSS again to NMSC. If you didn’t fill out the CSS Profile, there were instructions of how to register and submit it.

Stockmom - thanks for that info. That clears up a lot of my questions. My son is Commended Student and hasn’t heard anymore regarding the corporate scholarship from my husband’s work. We didn’t know if he didn’t get it (and realize it’s still a possibility) since he hasn’t heard yet. Perhaps we’ll hear soon - or at least I hope so:)

Can you call them and ask if you’ve received the scholarship or not?

Oops…Should all the NMF submit a CSS profile or the ones that applied to a corporation’s scholarship?

davenmame - don’t give up yet! You may still get a letter, ours a couple of years ago was dated March 19.
greenery - you should only submit a Profile to NMSC if asked to. Be sure to read your mail from them carefully. Our corporate scholarship did not ask for one.

Mamabear…thanks and best wishes!

You submit any financial information only if asked. Most scholarships are merit based and do not depend on need. Some corporations may use a merit + need basis.

Thanks so much, Stockmom! My son missed NMSF by two points, but that’s fine, esp. now that I see what some corporate scholarships can possibly be. Thanks also to everyone else for feedback. Best of luck to everyone!
