Hello,
I am a tenth grade student and I am interested in applying for the COSMOS program at UCSD and i would like to know how hard it would be to get accepted into one of the clusters at this program. Do you need a particularly high GPA or do your grades not matter as much as other things such as your essay? Also, is the COSMOS program at UCSD harder to get accepted into than the COSMOS programs at Irvine, Santa Cruz, or Davis? Lastly, are some clusters harder to get into and more selective than other clusters? All i want to do is improve my chances of getting accepted =) Thanks!

Hi (: I went to COSMOS last year as a sophomore at UCSD. I can tell you that there were kids who had under a 3.5 that were accepted into COSMOS. I suppose they showed great interests in the fields that they were applying to and got in. So yes, grades don’t necessarily matter as with anything. Show that you really want to go in your essays and you’ll be just fine! (: Also, make sure you have good student teacher relationships because I do know recs help as well. As for UCSD being the hardest, I’m not sure if that’s true. I believe there were 800-900 kids who applied to UCSD and 193 (i think) got in. I think Davis is also heavily applied to as well. Apply to a place where the clusters most particularly interests you so you can have better essays! :)
