<p>Dd is trying to make her final college decision and comparing costs is part of that decision. The SC website still shows the COA for 2012-13. I called the Office of FA and they said they do not know the costs for 2013-14 yet. I'm not sure how they can put together FA packages if they don't know how much the costs will be.... Anyway, has anyone heard anything about whether costs might rise? Have there been large increases in recent past years? Thanks for any information.</p>
<p>Any tuition increase will not be determined until the summer which is why they don’t have new numbers. They don’t know until then how much the state will allocate for higher ed until state budget set. Looking back, previous increase from 2011-12 to last year was 3.15%. From 09/10 to 10/11 tuition went up 6% because of state budget cuts, but I know they don’t want to make it that high. I guess they can put together packages because source of what they give out is already known and they can’t offer more than that. Federal aid is also outside the state budget. Anyway, based on past I would “guess” you should count on 3-4% tuition increase each year, but that’s just a shot in the dark. Couldn’t find any numbers about room/board so don’t know if increases are on the table there or not.</p>
