Cost of Attendance Increase?

Does anyone know if the cost of tuition or fees at SMU for the 2014-2015 school year will increase compared to last year? Or if the new residential commons living plan will raise housing/meal costs? Right now the cost is already high and if it gets even higher I don't know what I'm going to do. Also, how are they going to do the residential commons with random placement with the different dorms that offer different standards of living, I can't see it all being the same price.

Hey @brighdalake we got a letter a few weeks ago and the increase next year (and I think it even said the next couple of years) will be 4.8%. My first couple years here it was in the 6% range so that’s a little better

All of the commons are up the the same standard (five new builds, and six renovated) which is how the prices can be the same going forward. The two existing unrenovated first-year residence halls - Smith and Perkins - have not been converted to the commons model and will not be available to first year students next year for that very reason.

@johnangel thank you for your reply! So do you mean that each year the cost will go up 4.8%?

Yes, should be somewhere in that neighborhood. Don’t hold me to that since I’m just a student, but I think that’s the path that we’re on.
