Could athletics help with admission?

Hello! The title pretty much sums up my question...I run cross country and am wondering if it could give me a little bump in admissions if the coach was interested in me. My grades/test scores/ecs are up to par with Rice standards.

Wondering same thing. Does Rice do likely letters for recruited athletes like the Ivy League schools do?

It depends on what times are in cross country. As you know, Rice is a D1 school, so your times would need to be pretty competitive.

Have very competitive times for Div 1 schools. Receiving lots of Div 1 interest/ emails and letters as a high school junior but #1 choice is Rice. With competitive GPA and ACT at middle 50% for Rice- do you know if likely letters are given to qualified recruited athletes at Rice?

If you were not recruited by Rice athletics, then I am not sure why you would receive a likely letter, unless you talked to them about helping you get a push in the application process. Or unless the university itself thought you were a very competitive applicant in general.
