Well, as a Freshman (and a little as a Junior) I slacked off in some of my electives and screwed my GPA (a 3.0). Yes, that alone will probably keep my out of Fordham, but I do have some redeeming qualities: I have taken 5 APs between this year and last year, my GPA this year is so far about a 3.7 (which includes 3 APs), I got a 31 on my ACT, I got a 5 on my AP Gov exam, I am not looking for any financial aid money what-so-ever, and I am an active member of the tennis team, my school newspaper, our hunger outreach program and a few other clubs. With a stellar essay, what do you think my chances of getting accept are?

Apply and do so EA, see what happens. Write a good essay. Get recommendations that accentuate your maturity and depth of character and what you bring to the table in classroom discussions.

I think you stand a decent chance as your ACT is high enough and your AP exams are good. GPA is important, but they look at the entire transcript what classes you took etc.

With any admissions process, all sorts of things happen.

Is Fordham your top choice? If so, tell them.
