I want a career in Human Resources, but the University that I plan to transfer to doesn't have an undergraduate business degree with a concentration in Human Resource Management. However, they have an undergraduate business degree with a concentration in General Management and also there are a couple of Human Resource Management classes that I could take from the University to fulfill some of the requirements for the General Management concentration in Business. Am I still able to get a career as a Human Resource Manager, Human Resource Specialist, or any career that is within the field of Human Resources? In addition to my General Management degree, maybe I could also get a certificate in Human Resource Management if that could help? How likely will I be able to find a career within the field? Please let me know. Thank you.

I’m going to go with absolutely! Human Resources is a difficult field to get in, but a General Management degree won’t be a problem. In fact, most of my mentors in the field didn’t major in Human Resources. Just remember a General Management degree won’t be a set back, but lack of experience will.
I’m also hoping for a HR position after graduation, but my major is Organizational Communication.
