Could I get into Penn State?

When the time comes to apply, I plan on having a 3.1-3.2 GPA, and my highest SAT score is a 1640, though I am taking it one more time and shooting for 1700's. Also, if it matters, I am hispanic. Could I get into Penn State?

as of now you will probably get sent to another regional campus before university park.

^ verdict seconded

You have a shot at University park but you will probably get a regional campus.

PSU is a very gpa focused school. Better chances if over 3.5 and scores over 1750. Some others to posisbly check into also are Temple, St. Josephs (Philly), Seton Hall, ST. Johns, George Mason, Hofstra, URI and Towson. Best of luck!

bumpbump :/

read this: http://admissions.psu.edu/info/counselors/bubble_chart.pdf

I know what the “requirements” are. But there are people who have gotten in with stats a little below the requirements. I just want to know if I even have a shot. Or if the “pickyness” of Penn State has gone down some.

yes you definitely have a chance you just need to retake your SATs and maybe try the ACT and dont worry about the bubble chart its highly inflated.

I agree with invader71 about the improving your scores as well as the bubble chart being highly inflated. I’d say that you have a decent shot of getting in, but your GPA is a bit lower than their middle 50% range, but don’t let that discourage you. There are plenty of students who’ve gotten in with stats below and above the middle 50%. Penn State is my top school as well and the only thing that’s killing me right now is my low ACT score. Try taking the ACT, because you may prefer it over the SAT and possibly score higher. Aside from your stats, how are your EC’s? those add a major plus towards your admission consideration. Even if you don’t make it into UPark right away, the 2+2 isn’t bad at all, because as long as you maintain a strong average for 2 years at a branch campus, you’re basically guaranteed to finish off at UPark. The branch campuses aren’t as bad a people say they are; I visited Hazleton as my second choice and thought it was wonderful. Good luck! Hope I could help.

P.S. Do you mind chancing me back?

in state or out of state??

Thanks Invader and Mars. My EC’s are ok. I’ve done a couple sports in school, however most of my EC’s have been non-school affiliated. ie. Taking independent guitar lessons, independent swimming clubs, etc. Not sure colleges would still count that as EC’s but yeah.

Out of state, unfortunately. (NJ)

*But there are people who have gotten in with stats a little below the requirements. *

Yes…sometimes there are special admits…like athletes. Are you instate?

bumpbump :/

Out of state lowers your chances of getting on main by a lot. Your SAT score is average for them and your GPA is below average for them. Unless you are being recruited your chances of main are very slim
