Taking the most AP classes does not always make you a winner, usually it ends up as a disaster. Are you a Junior/Senior? How many AP’s have you taken already? Only you, yourself know what you are capable of doing.
Everybody has different capabilities, just don’t bite off more than you can chew and end up sacrificing all of your grades because of the excessive amount of work!
If you’re good at memorization, the Euro and the Gov classes should be easier (at my school, their easier APs than others). If you’re good at math up through the algebra 2 level, then Stats should be a breeze. How good are you at Spanish? Spanish lit is incredibly hard if you don’t have a great fluency in Spanish. I’d consider dropping down to a lower level if you’re not comfortable with your Spanish skills, or drop Spanish entirely because you’ve already had 3-4 years of it (depending on how your school does it). AP Art should be fun, if you enjoy art. AP English shouldn’t be too bad, if you’re a good reader.
So, overall, I’d consider dropping Spanish if you aren’t comfortable in Spanish. Also, comparitive government isn’t the most useful AP, and I’d only suggest taking it if you’re interested in government/foreign affairs. Maybe replace it with and AP economics? Econ and gov go greatly together.
Alright, thank you! I’m quite comfortable with Spanish, but I’ll take that into account. Would Spanish Language be easier than Spanish Literature?
Also, I aspire to work with the UN, so by your assessment that it’s only good if you want to go into foreign affiars, I probably need it. I’ve already taken AP econ, and made a five, but thank you for the tip
Much much easier. In fact, I assumed from the original post that you were currently taking AP Spanish Lang. I would never suggest a student take AP Spanish Lit first. Most schools require AP Spanish Lang as a prereq to AP Spanish Lit - and with good reason. Additionally, the AP Spanish Lit reading list is very extensive, and unlike the AP English Lit course, there is no deviation from the reading list. To get a sense as to what you’d need to read. look here. Also unlike the AP English Lit exam, you do not (at least in recent years) get to choose your own examples of works for the FRQ’s.
I would not take 7 APs if I were you. I know of some people who did that and they burned themselves out by the end of the school year. I would limit the # of APs to maybe 5? Use some of the time that would be dedicated to studying for all those APs towards developing your passions.
You’re taking 3 history classes, and 2 humanities classes that involve a LOT of reading. Also, do you understand how many projects AP Studio Art needs for submission? If you have to cut, cut one of the gov classes because I believe that in college they usually end up counting as the same history credit. Also, take AP Spanish Lang instead of lit. Lastly, make a choice between AP Euro and AP Brit lit. The AP tests will be fine for those classes either way since I hear they’re relatively easy, but surviving the class is the hard part. If you took both there would still be a high chance you’d get a 4 or 5 on both tests, but your GPA will definitely drop because of all the work the classes themselves have.
Taking too many = hurts your grades and even tells the admissions officers that you’re a robot with no social life.
You have to decide if you’re willing to tank your GPA by overextending yourself, and if so , how will you handle the consequences?
What do you want to major in?
What colleges are you aiming for?
Keep in mind that the most selective colleges only expect 6-8 AP’s TOTAL for all your high school year. Taking 7 may signal you’re an AP junkie, a kid who doesn’t understand (despite many highly selective colleges stating it plainly on their website) that it isn’t a game of who has the most Ap’s, wins.
Highly selective colleges will be fine with 4 AP’s.
What other classes will you be taking?
What AP’s have you taken so far?
AP European History
AP Statistics
AP Spanish Lit => Take AP Spanish Language if you’re reached the highest level of Spanish Honors; if not, take the highest level of Honors Spanish offered
AP English Lit => An English Honors seminar or two will be fine
AP US Government and Politics => unless it’s taught as a semester course in combination with AP CompGov, choose one of the two.
AP Comparative & Government and Politics=>=> unless it’s taught as a semester course in combination with AP GoPo, choose one of the two.

I would not recommend taking 7 in one year. It is awesome to challenge yourself, but there definitely exists a limit. I overestimated the amount of AP classes I could take in a year and piled them up, and this year felt like a disaster. Too many sleepless nights, moments of panic and stress, and significantly lowered grades simply because I thought the more AP’s the better.
Out of those 7, choose maybe 4 of the ones you are truly passionate about and take those. I found out the hard way that taking classes in subjects you aren’t interested in or good at is extremely boring and makes you lose motivation for doing the assignments for that class. (and definitely take Spanish Lang first before Lit! It’s basically a given to do so.)
Good luck!
AP studio art is time intensive. At my D’s school, it’s a two-year program.
7 classes is alot; check out to see what your colleges of interest will accept as well. Some might not accept all of those APs. . . . good luck!
Take 4 max- ONE History OR government, Spanish Lang, Art and English lit .
Take ONE Government OR History one next year , as well as Art.
There are no brownie points given for students who try to cram more than 6 AP classes into their ENTIRE HS career.
