@jovellanos58, no one on this thread can say with any certainty your chances of admission to UMCP.

These stats tell me that UMCP should no longer be considered a “safety school” for anyone. However, please read the links within the [Freshman Profile]( http://www.admissions.umd.edu/counselor/FreshmanProfile.php) page to understand the 26 factors the Admission Committee considers to determine academic merit. These factors include extracurricular activities, and work and breadth of life experiences, among other factors.

Best wishes on your journey to find the best college fit for you!

@Hawk-I‌ mycomment may be irrelevant to the OP, but that’s an impressive number! I had no idea that those were the app rates; i would like to show my peers and friends that got in. 3975/28000 is a 14% acceptance rate! That’s unbelievably competitive. I am really surprised; some people were saying that UMD has a 40% acceptance rate, down from the 47% last yr. 14% is Ivy-low. Psheww

edit i forgot they accept more people than the spots bc not everybody attends. woops. got too hype for a seconf

@Hawk-I‌ wait when do we hear back from UMD-COLLEGE park for fall 2015

^ If you are applying as a freshman for fall admission, January 31 (if you apply by November 1), or April 1 (if you apply by January 20)

You have a good chance. UMD is competitive so the only reason they wouldn’t choose you is if they have a large pool of candidates with a high SAT/ACT score, crap load of extracurricular, family alumni, 4.0 or above GPA, and a beyond outstanding essay-which I high doubt there will be a large pool a people with these factors. They would be idiots not to accept you.

Applying regular decision hurts your chances, 80%-90% of the incoming class comes from the priority applicants.

Your ACT is much lower than the average range - 24 (which Hawk just explained, middle 50% is 29-33)

Your Weighted GPA (3.9) is also lower than average, which is about a 4.2.

Of course, I can’t say for sure if you’ll be accepted or not so now you just have to wait and see. As Hawk said, there are 26 factors that they consider.
