I was planning on applying to Lewis and Clark College and Clark University early admission as my ‘safety schools.’ When I chose them months ago I just thought they seemed like good schools I would be happy at with a relatively high acceptance rate. But now as the deadline approaches and everything’s been happening I’ve been becoming increasingly more worried about not getting into even my ‘safety’ schools or not getting any merit aid. What worries me the most is that I did not interview at either college, and although that’s not required, it’s recommended and I worry that the colleges will think I don’t have interest in them, and that my stats aren’t good enough.
These are my stats:
UW GPA: 3.69
W GPA: 3.98
SAT I: 2200; Reading: 790, Math: 720, Writing: 690
SAT II: Math II: 700, Biology E: 650 first time, 770 second try
Extracurriculars that I am listing in the commonapp:
-Animal Shelter Volunteer
-Robotics Club
-Environmental Club
-Dance Club
-Art
-Paid Work at Kumon as a Teacher’s Assistant
As for the other stuff such as essays and teachers recs, I think that one rec letter (from my science teacher) should be very strong and the other (from english teacher) should be strong. My commonapp essay is pretty good, but not phenomenal. In my Lewis & Clark essay I tried to show that I am interested and really do like the school, but I never visited and writing is not my strongest suit. (hence the low score on the writing section of the SAT. I got an 8/12 on the essay.)
So, can
Lewis & Clark
and
Clark University
be considered safeties for me? Should I add some other schools that I am more likely to get into to my list? If so do you have any recommendations?
Thank you so much.
