Haha that should be interesting, but first we must wait to see if we got into our top choice :). Thanks a lot for your help dude, and don’t worry I think you have a good chance at UCLA!

well i must admit that I as much as I love UCLA I hope to go to Berkeley for Grad School, however to UCLA’s defense, its a good UC and L.A. can be a pretty cool city.

and the only people that boo UCLA are haters and USC fans (biggest haters)

Dagoberto, I’m pretty sure you will be a great applicant for grad school! Hey I wanted to ask you if you knew anything about neuroscience at UCLA?

@ucastell

No problem. We gotta help each other out with this transfer process. Lord knows that it can be too confusing.

@Cayton
I know that’s so true! The whole application process was confusing and stressful haha, I’m just very happy I’m done with it. Sorry to ask you, but do you know anything about the “Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan?” I heard it helps you tremendously, because if selected they help you more financially.

blue and gold opportunity plan means that if your or family make below a certain threshold (80,000 annually) then tuition fees will be waived.

Think of it like a Governor waiver fee but for the UC’s. if you are even more broke (like me) then you can qualify for even more aid and can get help with books, transportation, housing etc.

so people that benefit most of from it are middle class families and AB540 students who cannot qualify for pell grants and other federal aid.

http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/paying-for-uc/financial-aid/grants/blue-gold/index.html
I know many ab 540 students and for them not worrying about tuition is a life saver.

call me naive but i didn’t realize how many rich kids go to UCLA, if it wasn’t for these programs then UCLA would be a lot like USC.

^^^What Dagoberto said.

Thankfully, my family is so ridiculously poor that I’ll probably receive way more financial aid than I’d know what to do with.

But yeah, that blue and gold plan is great if you qualify for it.

@Dagoberto and @Cayton: Thank you so much for your help! I hope to qualify for it so that I don’t have to worry about tuition and just focus on finishing up my upper division courses. Yeah I heard UCLA is full of rich kids, but that’s honestly the only school that would make me move to SoCal ( I just really love the bay). Anyway thanks for all the help, I appreciate it :)

No problem.

Tuition does seem like an impediment to most people. But thanks to the fact that your student debt will stay with you even under bankruptcy, banks will pretty much write a blank check for any aspiring college student! So feel free to buy the Ferrari you’ve always wanted!

Seriously though, worry more about getting your degree taken care of. The blue and gold should help a lot if you qualify, but there is plenty of cash out there for folks who coauthor research papers in renowned publications.

@godot1
haha thank you so much, I hope I can get more scholarships by the end of spring. But thank you :)

out of the UCs you mentioned UCSD has the best program, I would say. When it comes to admissions UCSD tend to look more at your GPA than ECs but I think you do have a decent GPA. If you get in to UCSD give it a visit and Im sure you are going like it. The only UC that can beat it would be UCB but not in neuroscience!!! BTW im a transfer engineering student at UCSD and took one non major neuroscience classes here for GE. it was actually challenging but interesting. When I was applying and waiting for decisions following links helped me a lot. I think you might also find them helpful.

Thank you for your response, it means a lot man! Yeah i’m considering all my options and what the programs have to offer for my major and future goal.

I think you’re in everywhere. I’d be amazed if you got rejected from any UC, honestly.

@newsoul
Thank you for your opinion :)
