Hello,
I really appreciate the fact that you’re taking the time to answer this. I was just wondering if maybe you could tell me if I have a chance of getting a college prep scholarship from Questbridge.
So here are my stats…
I got a 198 in the PSAT
I have not yet taken the ACT or the SAT but I’m signed up to take them twice before the year ends.
My rank is 1/693
My gpa is a 4.0
I got a 5 on the AP Spanish IV test, a 4 in the AP World test, a 5 in the AP Human Geography test, a 5 in the AP psychology test. Also, I am currently taking: AP US, AP Physics, APES, AP Stats, AP Lang.
My extracurriculars from high school include: Varsity Swimming (9th and 10th grade), Key Club, Greencord, Spectrum club, NHS, Debate.
My job experiences include: photographer assistant and tutor.
Some extra information: I moved to the USA from Mexico City 4 years ago. I live with my mother and sister (I have no contact with my dad so my mom sustains us). Income is less than $40,000. I’d be the first generation to go to college.
Thank you very much!
I definitely think that you will be able to get the scholarship. I was a QB CPS and QB NCM finalist with a 186 PSAT, 29 ACT, 15/250 rank, 3.90 GPA. I hadn’t finished any AP classes, only honors. I was enrolled in 5 AP’s at the time.
I am also a swimmer (obviously), and had a few other extracurriculars also. I was not first generation and my mom’s income was about $30,000 and $60,000 with child support for 5 kids.
If I were the one who made decisions, I would say that you definitely would be getting the scholarship. There are always some well qualified people who don’t get the scholarship, so if you don’t get it, don’t be discouraged - your stats are awesome!
Good luck!
I have multiple friends that were Prep Scholars, and your stats (academics-wise) seem to be the same if not better than theirs. I think that with the grades, EC’s, and extra info that you provided, you should be confident in your chances to be a Prep Scholar.
I was late to discover QB and was not confident enough in myself to apply for the scholarship in junior year, but this past summer I decided to apply for NCM and in the end matched with Columbia (whoop!).
Anyway, you’ve probably already seen this, but here’s a link to the profile of college prep scholars:

Your stats seem to fit right in. Good luck!
