Countdown Till Interim Decision

so no one knows when exactly it will arrive or be posted, so the countdown really won't work, i guess. Let's just say there's still a week.

Will we find out online first or by mail? (I don't know if this question has already been asked or not)

the woman i spoke with when i called told me that decisions should arrive at our houses before the 10th and will be posted online the night of the 10th

Great. Thanks for that clarification.

I love Rice. In my opinion it is the best value for the buck. I do not know how much longer I can wait.

I hope and dream that I get in. If I don't, I will wail.

asldfjalksjerk can't wait!!!

if your stats are good, youll get in. no bogus junk with rice

11 days...

10 for instate...

it can't possibly be all about stats, can it?? i'm just nervous.

no, it's not all about stats. but you don't have to have cured cancer to get into Rice either. good luck everyone!

ahhhh T_____T this'll be my first "big" rejection/acceptance/ whatever.... do you know if the letter comes in a big envelope or a little one?

the envelope is big, but not particularly thick. there is a folder inside with the letter. I do not what size rejection/deferral letters come in.

6 people are applying from my school--all with REALLY good stats. How many do you think they will accept?

does anyone know if they tell you how much merit aid they will give someone. I was really hoping for a scholarship to Rice in order to lessen the cost even more

WC20,

Rice sends any scholarship offer with the acceptance. Good Luck!

do you know what the usual amount is or some criteria for merit aid

Here is Rice selectivity info:

http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~instresr/ricestatistics/Pages/select04.html#Transfer

A Rice student who posts here believes something like the top 15% get merit aid, so it is for students with extra-stellar credentials.

Of those who receive merit aid, I was told the average package for those who do receive merit aid (top 15% or so of class) is about $5K per year. Note the wording here....I was told this by someone at Rice.....so hopefully it is correct, it may not be correct. Your mileage may vary.

I have no idea about need based aid or what the exact criteria may be for receiving either need based or merit based aid.

Some students probably receive a combination of both kinds of aid.

Good Luck.

will everyone check the decisions online or wait for the excitement of snail mail? :)

purrli- I can't decide!! I love the drama of opening the letter, but man, I'm so impatient. I'm going to try to wait, I think.

small envelope: rejection or deferral
big envelope: acceptance

you'll know it when you see it. good luck!
