Awww...o ya what exactly is in all the stuff in the envelopes. I know probably books and posters but w.e? Is that it...just useless crap?

mmoynan--of all the schools I looked at (C/D/E/A/H/S/G/MX), I thought St. Paul's had the 2nd best cafeteria and food. Behind Groton, whose food was AMAZING :D

Haha, no way! That's hilarious!

I had a wrap at SPS, and it was fairly good... just smothered in mayo, lol... bleh. I just really didn't like the whole stainless steel, dishes clanging, turquoise tile flooring, flourescent lighting etc., I much preferred Exeter's dim (er) lighting, hardwood floors - more like a ski chalet feel... that's just me, though.

I didn't check out Groton, actually... hmm, maybe I should have! =]

i don't think acceptance notifications will be in small letters.
when i got rejected last year, i only received small letters.
i also asked my friend, who's at choate, yesterday. he said that he got big envelopes from choate and harvard westlake (a/e caliber private school in los angeles). and he received small letters from other schools. all of which he was waitlisted in.

OH NO. Ahhh.. don't tell me this! I HOPE to see a huge, fat, bulging letter hanging out my mail box. Or, ideally, there'd be a notice saying I had to pick up a huge package from the P.O. - because it's stuffed with all the goodness I look for in an acceptance package.

I was hoping for uncertainty regarding the size, so that I didn't know straight away if I got in or not by how big the envelope I'm about to open is (or tear up and scream, for that matter).

haha yes exactly!! it'd be way better if you couldn't tell by looking at the outside.. although then you'd actually have to go through the work of opening the letter...

Prepare for extra longness!

I fell in love with Choate because of the visit- I liked the beautiful scenery, the I.M. Pei and Georgian architecture (yummy, I'm an architecture nerd, took classes and everything), and the dorms were exquisite. The dining hall was perfect, and I hit it off with every current student I met. Other than that, the program fits me personally, and I can't speak for anyone else. After visiting my other two schools, Choate still comes out on top, and the other two are A/E... So, for me, that says a lot about "prestige".

Oh, and it IS pronounced "Chote". I visited, that's how they said it, how I said it, etc. etc.

Argh, my app for Choate will be completed by this Sunday or I will shoot myself. I need at least 4 days to allow for the mail to get the materials there, but my recommendations are with my teachers! And they don't know the deadline will the Saturday after we get back to school. So they might not even be done with the recs. I'm spazzing out right now. The financial forms are a pain in the buttocks, but my essays for Choate are all complete- I just need to type them out for the typed copy they want attached.

My dad also compiled a highlight video of myself playing volleyball- we were JV league champions with myself the primary setter, so it was the obvious choice for an app supplement!

I'm confident yet freaked out- I keep psyching myself out "Oh I'll be fine, I had a great interview and I like my essays" to "Oh, crap, I wrote my essays in pencil and print not cursive and my SSAT scores were delayed (mom's credit card got denied for no reason!!) what am I gonna do?"

This whole thing seems ridiculous!

wait, so.. the essays have to be postmarked, or arrive in the office by 15th? it's confusing.. some people say postmarked, but by the way you say it, it has to arrive by the 15th.. what is it!?

Postmarked.

do you think it'll be bad if i post mark it RIGHT on the 15th? would it **** them off or smthin? my moms naggin gme to finish it this weekend

they say it always helps to apply early.
cuz they look at the application in the order they arrive in. or so the rumor goes....
so you don't want to be the last handful of applications the tired officers have to go through and read

Shoot. I'm so screwed.

Do they actually do that? Because the different parts of everyone's applications come in at different times, it's not like they all arrive together at once...

Oh my gosh I'm so screwed. I'm just realizing it, too. Why am I even doing this???

@ justin: uh oh. where does it say that ? oh dear. if this is true, then i'm totally .. er, messed up because i procastinate like crazy!
i'm also worried that my application will get lost in the mail. haha, wouldn't that be fun? _sarcasm

The mail is freaking me out too! Let's see...
Choate's deadline is the 10th. My recommendations may or may not be done. We get back to school on the 5th. My teacher take 1-2 days to finish, and it takes 3 days to reach Choate by mail.

That's cutting it waaaaay too close!!!

HAI SAER :]

Umm... I haven't sent in much yet, and by much I mean anything. I'm planning on sending almost everything in on Friday, and hoping that my teachers have done what they are meant to do... however... I have a bad feeling all teacher/counselor recs will be sent in on the 10th or so.

I am despairing a little, but, heads up! You are not alone.
Plus... come on. RED HAIR. That's a hook if I ever saw one! ;]

How did you guys manage to ask your teachers/people you're asking recs from? Like, if you're applying to multiple schools and they have to write multiple recommendations .. Have your teachers like, hesitated or said they're busy or anything of the sort?

I'm wondering how I'll ask my principal. I don't know him AT ALL, and I don't think he knows me either so how will that work? Eeek.

actually i heard most schools dont look at applications until after jan 15...

source pretty please?
