Sorry I've been inactive for so dang long... School is too busy.

Wooh 168 Gotta start doing applications lol i'm applying to 8 or more schools :)

I'm only applying to 4- I've got one essay down for Exeter, and NOT ONE SINGLE applications started. Urgh.

I'm probably gonna start in october or november I'm not in a rush.

I'm applying to Exeter, St. Pauls, Choate, Westminster, Hotchkiss, Loomis, Williston, and one more I haven't decided yet. :)

If you have any ideas of where I could apply as my 8th, let me know. :)

Because you are applying to 8 schools, you might consider looking for your 8th school from the list of schools that accept the Common Application. Completing the applications is very time consuming. I'm guessing that Williston accepts the common ap.

If you let people know what you are looking for in a school, I'm sure you'll get some suggestions. Also, many people like to be within a 2 hour drive from home, so you might comment on the geography that interests you.

Well I live in connecticut and I'm looking for an academically rigorous school, with a good athletic program. So if any suggestions I'm open to all of them.

Any particular sport?

There are many boarding schools that offer rigorous academics and a good athletic program. Schools that are often included in a CT search are Suffield Academy, Berkshire, Kent, Taft (a reach), Gunnery Northfield Mt. Hermon and Canterbury. If you are a girl, look at Miss Porters, Emma Willard and Westover. If a boy, look at Salisbury, Avon Old Farms and Trinity Pawling. If you live in the SE section of CT, you can also look at Blair Academy in NJ. It's easy to get to from 84 in CT or 287 in NY, and would be a 2 hour or less drive depending on where you live. It's a great school!

When you select your 8th school, my suggestion is to find one you like that is not as competitive as most of the schools oh your list.

When you start your school visits, you might realize criteria that is important to you. For example, you may decide that you want to be at a school next to a town or a village. Or you may realize that you do not want to be required to attend a religious ceremony once a week. As you do your visits, your list may change. You are fortunate to be within a few hours of many schools.

Good luck!

Well I play tennis, but I was thinking of choosing Kent as my 8th school choice...

And Thanks Burb Parent you've been really helpful :)

kent is an awesome school.

ask aussie. he knows all about it (if he weren't so busy living there instead)

All my forms have finally come in from all the schools I want to apply to.
I'm happy (:

does sending online/handwritten apps matter? i think there was a thread like this before, but i dunno. do they?

i asked that, but noone replied ):
i think some schools prefer the online ones.

I'm definitely going to be using the online applications whenever I can, I just was waiting until I got all my paper forms to start.

Ohhhh gosh, it was the most miserable wait ever, but it's great on here because you make good friends and they are all in the same boat!
I was waiting for mine March tenth, and got early acceptance like a week earlier and received a huge custom made vineyard vines bag! It was crazy, but it really is such a day of pride.

ha this sounds like fun....

mburghopeful,
what school was that? :)

im guessing mercersburg XD

It depends on the school. One school (SPS maybe?) has a lower application fee if you apply online. That tells you something.
Deerfield, as of last year, did not have an online application.
We submitted 2 applications online, 3 hand written. I called the schools that offered it and they told me it did not matter to them either way.
You could call and ask admissions if they have a preference, or ask in your interviews.

Wow, I didn't realise this would actually carry on this long :) I'm hoping this thread is gonna be a kick butt one that everyone remembers. :D
Sorry, i'm rambling. And guess who's taking the SSAT tomorrow??

MEEE!
Yech.

good luck!!!!
