Countdown to Acceptance Letters

I actually think I did pretty dang well :) I feel pretty good about it, at least.

I'm getting all the teacher recommendations in on monday. My goal is doing SPS essay by friday. I have to prepare for the SSAT also... I am also taking my time with the online ones and writing them on word and possibly letting my favorite teacher read them... The only thing is if she asks I will just tell her they are for applications to a school and I hope that doesn't affect recommendations or how much they help me.

Good luck everybody, this is a pretty stressful time for me at least.

My son took the ssat this morning too. He said it was much easier than he thought it would be. I hope he's right. I'd hate to have to shell out another 125.00. I'd rather spend that on the boxed Calvin and Hobbes set I told him I'd get him if he hits his target. I thought the bribe would motivate him to study, but alas, he doesn't seem to know how to do that.

italianboarder - You may want to wait on teacher recs unless you've had your teachers in prvious school years. I've even seen BS recommend waiting until late Nov./early Dec. That way your teachers will know you better. I think that would still give them plenty of time. Just my opinion though...

neatoburrito - I LOVE Calvin & Hobbes!

Good luck to your son and getting his target- I hope I kicked butt, too!

hey guys, about the essays
when should I start writing them? I have looked at the topics, but I haven't started them AT ALL... I'm definitely procrastinating on both SSAT and apps. I have the ssat in november, and I really think i should get on with the program. when is an ideal time to start on app essays?

I've written one of six essays and not a single short answer... Argh.

I've written one (well almost one, I'm having issues making it more concise and coming up with a good way to sum it up) and the beginning of another. I haven't started on short answer yet either. Those shouldn't be as hard for me as full out essays. I hate making them short though. I'm not a short writer.

start during all your free time off
for me, that would probably be thanksgivings and random all-nighters when I'm not finishing up projects/essays/writing/homework/oral presentations/competition auditions :D

I HAVE NOTHING TO DO. that is my problem.
I am sitting here for the second hour straight, and while I should do something productive, I don't. I just wrote up a list of all the different questions I will have to answer (and what school it's for) without repeats, and they are RIDICULOUSLY OBSCURE.

I have written One essay that I plan to use for 4 schools... I have sent it to about 2 admissions officers and 3 english teachers. Plus two CC friends, and I am happy that I won't have to write 12 essays... Looks like 7 now. And a short answer.

My friends have already made a deal with me that we are meeting at one girl's house for dinner AND two of my best friends are coming home from college for the weekend to open my letters with me. I'm very happy about that part... They told me they won't let me go unless I open the letters with them... I'm still happy that we are going to do it like that.

That's seems really awesome about your friends!
My friends are kind of envious about my decision to apply- they want to get out of our small town, but couldn't leave their friends/school/athletics/family. So they are kind of like... Yay! It looks so amazing... Please get in so we can keep in touch!
But I'm only writing 3 essays... 1 essay for both Exeter and Choate, another essay for Exeter, and then a third for Andover.

I'm stuck between writing on the matter I once knew for sure but don't anymore (religion) and writing an autobiography, for Andover. Exeter and Choate, I've written about a difficult experience that I overcame through the words of an amazing coach. My second Exeter essay... ugh. I have no clue. Probably between a topic I am passionate about (volleyball) and my favorite word (I don't even have one!!)

Andover essay was the easiest for me. Just have to write one and turn in one from english class. All my english essays get good grades so I choice my most unique one. Hopefully they like it..

You can now go online and see if you got accepted or not...as long as you sign in..........haha last year my dad would not give me the password becasue he thought i would try and see the results in school and if i did not get in i would have an emotional break down.........haha MARCH 10 LONGEST DAY EVER!
