Countdown to RD Decisions (Class of 2018)

Just wondering, is Rice generally easier to get accepted into than WashU and Northwestern?

Just to chime in on the interest thing: I got into WashU but I never visited, interviewed, etc. and they still wanted me. I think Rice doesn’t hold interest in high regards instead they try to find students that will truly fit in with the Rice environment!

^ same here. Apart from a cousin who attended WUSTL, I did not get an interview and did not visit the campus. I exchanged no emails whatsoever with the admissions officers and still got accepted. WUSTL didn’t even have an essay to demonstrate interest in the university!

Okay, now that I see some one is confused I think it is important I explain a little bit.

I have friends who are admitted to Rice ED, and internationals who are admitted to Rice got a real sense of community. Therefore through them I can get information from Rice students who work part time in the admissions office. I do NOT have direct contact with AOs or the admissions office.

However, the information may as well be solid since the source is actually within the admissions. From what I’ve gathered they have finished all the decision-making by Friday but was stuck with FAs, hence the delay. It is extrapolated that they will release on Monday, but nothing is certain or official.

Aside from this, I am as anxious and hopeful as everyone else on this thread. Best of luck all, go owls!

The fee waivers were for those who signed up for the student search service with college board at the time of the test (sadly…which i did not) and did well on the tests

Well you could find out early. All you have to do is an SQL injection. This is what I sort of did to an important database to get data to do my science fair. I got into serious legal trouble for it because I downloaded PDFs through TOR, and downloading content removes anonymity. That is my Common App essay actually! I could try pulling off the same thing, but it takes time to make and I think its more worth to wait like 48 hours or something, rather than be a devious little person who would risk their admission.

Our son didn’t sign up for the student search service, yet got the Rice fee waiver email.

@apushed96 could you explain further? sounds interesting (not saying for practical purposes I already got into cornell and northwestern so rice is kind of icing on the cake)

@SoCalDad2 are you sure he didn’t bubble in opt in? That’s the only way rice has access to your scores unless you sent them directly to rice

I know he didn’t do the student search service, but I don’t know what he may have waived on the days of the tests.

The CB releases lists of everyone who got AP Scholar, for example. Maybe some variant of that is what they send Rice.

well i only took the ACT and AP’s and yet got the fee waiver. so there’s definitely another way they got our info

Less than 12 hours now! Let’s hope today is the day…GOOD LUCK!

We can’t make everybody excited only to be upset again like Friday. Let’s anticipate Wednesday so that we’re pleasantly surprised.

I doubt that its gna be today… but lol idk its just my personal thoughts :-S

Generally , how are you guys combating the nerves of pending decisions?
Senioritis+ Decision stress= Trauma
At least for me :P

lol college is college… if I get into rice great… and if I don’t great. Stop freaking out guys.

when is it coming out? what time

We’re guessing 5 central time. I think.

do they notify through email or… what

They should send an email when decisions are ready.

Does anybody know anything about the acceptance rate of Texas students vs. out of state students?
