Couple DoDMERB questions

I'm very close to losing my USNA LOA, which states that I must be medically qualified by March 1 (USMA LOA is April 15). I was informed in a DoDMERB letter (20 Jan) that my last remedial must be completed at a military facility. Unfortunately, all of my appointments and consultations won't be done until March 18, as that is the soonest time Pendleton can fit me in (and I only got an appointment because we knew a guy who worked in the medical department there).

Does USNA grant extensions to LOA's? I emailed my RD, but she only gave me a vague answer ("many candidates have this problem ... see if you can get an appointment sooner..." etc). Also, does DoDMERB review an applicant's file on request if he/she is close to a deadline?

Some advice for future candidates: get your DoDMERB stuff done as early as you can. I've been working (seemingly nonstop) on this since August; I would have already received an appointment two months ago (according to my MALO).

Try and see if there are other MTFs in your area besides the base hospital. For example, in the DC area there are tons of clinics that are not on the base, but are still military facilities overseen by a military doctor (what DoDMERB wants).

Not 100% sure of my California geography, but doesn't being near Pendleton put you close to San Diego? San Diego has a huge naval facility and thus doctors and more opportunities for appointments. Since it doesn't matter what service does it, they are all essentially the same medically, what about Vandenberg AFB and Los Angelas AFB?

Good Luck!
