Spoke yesterday with a friend whose son is applying to USNA. Attended NASS I. Told me his son had already scheduled his DoDMERB exam. He's not far along in his app though.

Mine went to NASS III. Has heard nahda re: his medical exam.

I'm wondering how this works? Can anyone enlighten please?

At NASS III they told us on the last day during the briefs that once you have submitted 5 pieces of the application, DODMERB would contact us to schedule the exam.

By 5 pieces, they mean like "English Recommendation" and "CFA" etc. etc.

My daughter Navy_Hornet was at NASS Session 1 and received a letter from Concorde (I think?) with paperwork top fill out and who to call to schedule her appointments. Don't know where it came from because she was accepted to NASS and AFASS and has been filling out lots of paper.

I believe she got the letter while she was still in Annapolis or the next week while she was away at Girls State.

Haven't scheduled the appointments yet but she'll be home on July 10th and jump all over it.

last year it took FOREVER for me to hear anything from DoDMERB. even though i got an LOA in september, and my application was done over the summer, i wasn't able to make DoDMERB appointments until october/november. i was surprised at how slow they were at contacting me, and i'd even tried to speed it along in the months before, to no avail.

I went to Session 2, I didn't get any letters. I just had my letter from the Academy that I had from before Summer Seminar. Your whole packet is online now, once 50% of your packet is in, they schedule you for a medical.

if you want to get a jump start on DoDMERB, open an application for an ROTC scholarship. As soon as I opened one for AFROTC, the DoDMERB file started. I decided I didn't want to compete for an ROTC scholarship, so I ended up sitting on the DoDMERB paperwork for a while, but i certainly could have gotten started a little earlier if I wanted. I don't even think I completed 1 piece of the AFROTC application before they opened a DoDMERB file for me. The DoDMERB file applies to anywhere you apply, so its not like it would apply to just AFROTC.

The early DodMERB's come from USAFA & USMA. Navy requires that you complete 5 pieces of the application process before they send your name in to get a physical. The Air Force Academy puts your name in when you complete your pre-candidate questionairre and are qualified to apply. My daughter got her DodMERB information in early June and she has not yet completed 5 parts to her USNA application but is a candidate for both USAFA & USNA.
