Course registration questions (stern)

I'm not sure if this is for all students or just stern students, but I have this course registration thing I have to do tomorrow, and I have a couple of questions

Firstly, am I registering for just the fall semester of 2006 for now? Or the entire freshmen academic year?

Secondly, I am given four different areas..
1)Writing
2)M.A.P./Natural Science
3)Math
4)Economics
For the writing area, I have to take it and I'm not given an option so it's no big deal. But for the MAP/NaturalScience area, can I just sign up for just natural sciences and get away with it? (ie taking neither of Conversations of the West nor World Cultures)

Thirdly, I recognize that no credit is given for previous math courses, and instead a test is taken to be placed in the right level course. An evil and lame side of my brain suggested pretending like I had no previous advanced-math standing, and take Calculus I for an easy A. Is that a common option?

Thanks for your help

what? ur saying that we can NOT start with calculus I if we've taken a course that covered calc I material, but was not AP, if we take a placement test?

A lot of people at colleges in general don't take placement tests or harder courses for GPA purposes. Also, you're going to have to take Conv. of the West and a World culture course in addition to Natural Science, but Natural Science can be bypassed with AP credits if you have them.

I don't think you have to have been in AP Calc to take the test but that is just an assumption. I was in AP, but I'm not taking the test.

Winston

I don't think there is a placement test for calc. They start you off with Calc I unless you can AP out of it.

You can choose to take neither World cultures or ConWest, but you have to take them sometime, and it would suck to have MAP classes as an upperclassman.
