I just want to double check this, but I thought we registered for fall classes during orientation? I found this: Registration Windows
I am assuming that that is only for current students, but I don't see anything about the window for new students. I see that some of the classes I want are filling up, so I was just wondering when the absolute earliest time you can register is. It would seem like a lot of work to plan and register every single person's classes at orientation. I'm going to the 5/29-5/30 orientation, and I already know what classes I want to sign up for.

You are not activated to be able to register (based on your unique identifier) until the second day of orientation when you are scheduled to actually register. It is only after upperclassmen have been able to register. Their windows open depending upon credits completed, honors, etc.

i know honors students are given first priority in registering for classes, so how will that work during orientation? does anyone even have an idea? I'm just curious :]

Honors students are not given registration priority at orientation. Priority registration will not begin for honors students until they begin to register for their spring 2009 courses.

No, you register for summer at orientation, and then when the registration window for fall reopens in July you register while you are there for the summer. :(

wow, it really sucks that summer students get the worst priority to sign up for fall classes.. They should have them sign up for both at the same time.

If you are not sure of your major, just take basic general education courses.
You have to take English composition, math, history, social science, humanities/fine arts, science, computer skills and oral competency. The courses must also satisfy the diversity, multicultural, literature and Gordon rule requirements.

The sooner you can narrow down which direction you want to go in, the better, for example if you were not going to be a science major you could just take a liberal studies science vs. taking a more comprehensive science for majors. It probably would be best to take the more comprehensive science unless you can definitely rule out science as your direction.

Many students change their major one or more times during their studies after further exposure to various subject areas. The career center would be a good place to start as well.

I was looking at the Blackboard course search on Blackboard Academic Suite
One of the classes I realllly want to sign up for is almost out of seats (JPN1120! :O They offer 4 classes, and the 2 later ones are full. The other two have 8 and 9 seats open. I don't mind going at 8am, but I am scared that I won't be able to get the class. I'm going to the May 28-29 Orientation date (which is early). What is the chance that I will get it? Is it possible to pickup the class if people drop out? I know enough to get into the JPN1121 class, but I don't have the credit. It is somewhat important that I get the class, because I plan on doing a study abroad Sophomore year and I need all the practice I can get. Thanks!

You never know if a few spots will remain open (especially the 8am class) or if they will add a few spots if you contact the professor. Sometimes a new section opens up. Even if the classes fill up, keep watching the classes every day during the registration window and sometimes a spot will open up briefly and you have to grab it up. Also, there is a chance that you can get into the class during the first few days of drop/add.

If I get a math credit from AP Calc this year can I take Math for Liberal Arts in Fall 2008 and that's it?? If so are the classes like M W F AND R.. or is there one M W F and then a seperate one R. Like look what I mean:

MATH FOR LIBERAL ART 28 25
HCB 0101 M W F 02:30 PM 03:20 PM
HTL 0104 R 08:00 AM 08:50 AM

Is the first row for instance one class that meets M W F from 2:30 to 3:30, and another on R from 8:00 to 8:50. Or is it the same class that goes to different buildings at different times on different days?

For COURSE MGF1106:
It means the large lecture (probably 450 students since it appears there are 16 sections of 28 students each) meets Mon, Wed & Fri from 2:30 - 3:20pm in room HCB0101 and on Thurs (a smaller break out session 28 students with a teaching assistant) from 8-8:50am meets in HTL0104. There are 16 different choices of times for the smaller "lab" with different meeting times and rooms.

It appears there is also a second choice of a large lecture on Tue and Thurs from 3:35 - 4:50 with 16 choices of "lab" times as well.
