Course Selection for next year? (APUSH or AP Lang?)

Hey, I'm a rising junior signing up for courses next year and I wanted to know your guys' opinion on something. I am currently signed up for AP English Language and Composition, but am reconsidering my decision. I am a horrible writer and the only reason I maintain an A in my honors English class is because of the very lenient teacher..I feel like I would get destroyed if I were to take a legitimate English course, especially AP Lang. (The only reason I would be taking AP Lang is purely to add another AP on my college resume, I hate English).

On the other hand, my teacher recommended me for APUSH. He is an AMAZING teacher and will be teaching APUSH next year, so that would be very nice if I got in his class. Should I drop AP Lang and take honors English 3 and APUSH, or keep AP Lang and not take APUSH?

I really don't have the confidence to take both at the same time so it's either 1 or the other. I know the teachers of the classes play an important role on how hard it can be, but what are your guys' experience with APUSH and AP Lang?
Thank you.

Take both. AP Lang will help you become a better writer. The probability that you will not have to take a writing class in college is small, so build the skills now.

Yup, I recommend both too, unless you will make room for AP Lit (colleges generally give more credit for this) your senior year and keep APUSH.

@tangentline pretty much summed it up. If you could do both that’d be great.

Honestly, I think both would be great.

AP Language is very straight forward writing. You don’t need to be creative at all! There’s not much interpreting for symbolism like you would in Lit. For APUSH, you need just as much writing skills, if not more. It’s the hardest class I’ve taken, but it helps so much with writing quickly and concisely. I took it as a sophomore, and my friends and I who took it actually talk about how we wish we would have taken it as juniors so it would help us with AP Language.

If you have to pick between the two, though, I’d pick APUSH. Definitely take AP Lit next year though.
