Course Selection Help

I am planning to do pre-occupational therapy at my university. I have a question regarding course selection. The chemistry courses at my university are closed for the semester, but the biology courses are still open.Should I take Bio before Chem, or take Chem in the Fall along with Bio? Thanks! No rude comments please!

It shouldn’t matter what order you take them in or if you take them together. You can talk to your advisor if you want to.

At my school, it was very common for students to take biology and chemistry concurrently (especially biology majors and pre-health students). But there’s nothing wrong with taking bio and then chem.

The only thing I can think of that you might want to think about is that sometimes it’s valuable to stay on the normal track for courses that are taken in sequence. For example, if you have to take Biology 1 and 2, these courses are likely normally taken fall and spring semester. You might want to take them in sequence with a small gap in between, rather than having an entire summer between when you take the courses. Or you might want to consider that if most students take Biology 1 in the fall, rather than the spring, there might be more course times available, more resources available (including other students to form study groups), and/or better or more experienced professors teaching (and the same with Biology 2 in the spring). That’s a pretty minor consideration, though, and at schools with a lot of course offerings or big biology programs, it probably won’t matter that much (if at all).

Thank you so much! I am planning to just do more gen-eds in the spring, and then move onto the sciences when my studying habits have matured more by next fall.
