Hey everyone,
I’m a sophomore in high school right now, and looking at the three big service academies - the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, and West Point - for my top choices in college. I’m doing everything I can to stay competitive as an applicant in all regards, and I just had a question about an AP course for senior year. So I’m in part of an IB Diploma program, which means that I’m taking all IB courses, along with AP Calculus AB next year and IB Math HL Senior year. I’ve done Honors Biology in Freshman year, Honors Chemistry and part of IB Physics this year, and the rest of IB Physics next year. Since this year I’m doing two sciences, I have the four years of science, which I know the academies really like. For Senior year, I have the ability to take one AP course of my choosing, and I’m having a little trouble between three choices. I wouldn’t mind taking any of the 3, I would just like to know from a competitive standpoint which one is best to take. I could take either AP Computer Science A, AP Chemistry, or AP Statistics. Which one would help me the most with my academic competitiveness for the service academies?
Thanks so much!
