Courses question (pre-med)

I know this question is probably more appropriate for an advisor at orientation but I'm hoping that some current students can help weigh in.

I am wondering about the order of math and science courses I should take for pre-med.
(ie.Do I need physics before chem or chem before bio or does it not matter)

Right now I am able to take courses that have Intro to bio (both ecological and molecular) as prerequisites through AP credit but I'm worried that I may need those classes in order to adjust to the rigor of Bio classes at Umich. Should I take one (or both of those) even though I can go up a level in Bio. If not, what bio class should I take next?

I'm planning on starting with general Chem (took Ap in hs but want a better review) and I have no physics background.

I took AP Calc AB but I wont have my score at my orientation so assuming on the safe side I'd start with Calc I (In the case that I get a 4 or 5 should I continue with Calc II or Honors Calc I or honors Calc II) Or should I take a statistics class (I took AP in hs)

I know this is a lot and I'm sure most of these can be answered at my orientation but really any advice from current students on any of these subjects would be appreciated. I'm looking for difficulty of class vs ap classes and trying to figure out what order I should take science classes in

Thanks for your advice.

I would sign up for Calc I at orientation and switch to Calc II if you get a 4 or 5 on the AP. I would take honors only if you are really interested in the study of math. The honors math takes the study of math to a different level.

Most premeds seem to take chem as a freshman. You can take the chem placement test and see if you want to take Chem 130 or start in 200 level.

Physics is easier after you have taken calc than it is if you don’t know calc so I would consider taking that after chem.

I don’t know much about bio.

It also helps to take something unrelated to math and science for comic relief. You will have a first year writing class but social studies classes are good for this.

Thank you for your insight! that was very helpful. Yep I’m hoping to fit in some research or a psych class.
