hi, i’m a junior right now and i’m scheduling classes for next year. Currently, im taking AP Bio and Human Anatomy and Physiology, and i might apply for accelerated med programs next year. i was wondering if Physics is a requirement, and if AP chem is a requirement. if they are not requirements, would colleges be impressed if you took both? I also don’t want to cut my APs down senior year and give off an impression that I slacked off. thank you
If you are planning on applying to top colleges, physics is pretty much expected. So solid preparation would be a year each of bio/chem/physics plus and advanced course in one of those. Anything on top of that is gravy.
No
No. Top colleges get tens of thousands of applications every year, and I would assume the number of times an AO said, “This schedule impresses me; let’s admit him/her” is zero.
Physics is expected. If you want to be premed, AP Chem helps since it’ll give you a leg up on your first semester of college chemistry (also, if premed, it means you’ll be competing on equal footing with other students who took the class).
However this will impress no one in Top 100 universities and it’s highly likely almost everyone admitted to a BS/MD program had both.
