I'm applying to various companies for internships in a business environment and I've read a lot about how to format them and what information to include. My only problem is this would be my first "real" job. I have work experience, but it's just been an after school job at a pizza place to earn some spending money. My only other job has been a volunteer job, as a certified referee at the local YMCA, reffing kid's sports. I'm afraid this will look bad to potential employers. Any advice?

Nonsense, they know it’s your first job. Highlight your work ethic from your previous positions as well as your ability to control of a soccer field, and that you ref by encouraging a sense of fair play and teamsmanship (spelling?). Other than that I don’t see what else they would expect you to offer other than an interest in the opportunity and genuine desire to learn and grow.

Any job that you’ve held for some time says a lot about you. You can follow directions, show up on time, get the job done and navigate the working world. Don’t discount the two jobs that you have.

Regarding my referee job I wrote about my ability to work well under stress and mediate/manage conflict. Any other suggestions?
