Vaccines are now available without an appointment at three Colorado locations.
Several appointments at Seattle Childrenās; might not last long.
Nassau Community College in Garden City is doing walk ups for Moderna.
Fingers crossed that Pfizer will get EUA for 12-15 years old in early May. That will take care of some of the excess supply! Iād love to get our 15 year old vaccinated before his summer sport starts.
CVS has many slots available for Duval county, FL residents.
For several days now there has been no wait list for appointments on our county web site. They should open for walk-in as long as there is no waitlist.
For those in the greater Seattle-Tacoma areaā¦ Plenty of appointments now available through Tacoma-Pierce county Health Department website.
And still, overall, a huge void of appointments in north Seattle and north and east King County. Sigh. I wish the state had let the Shoreline Fire Department set up a mass vaccination clinic, as they had requested weeks ago. Now we have many, many people traveling out of county to get shots. Not the most efficient use of resources.
So true! Sighā¦ lots of unnecessary travel happening. I hear that some locations in Seattle now offer walk in vaccinations to those 60 and older, but appointments at pharmacies and closest to the city mass sites are being snatched up quickly.
(I think the Eastern WA economy got a small boost from all of this tourism. The places where we ate were packed (I made sure we would be eating during slow times and sitting outside), and some wineries were busy. Our wine cellar got a small infusion. )
HOW is that possible in a major city given the abundant supply of products and resources now ? No excuse for your elected officials not to have things up and running ā¦ not even federal sites, where are those ?
Again, beyond lucky to be in Florida where we have/had easy access to free shots from a number of sources for a long while now, taking care of not only OUR residents but tons of visitors ! Everyone - homeless, prison population, and even mobile units come to you if needed.
The obvious answer is that demographics in Seattle suggest a very high level of vaccine enthusiasm, while the demographics in eastern Washington and much of Florida suggest higher levels of vaccine reluctance, resulting in faster drop-off on the demand side in those areas.
The UC and Cal State schools here in California are requiring students to be vaccinated.
not quite. UC/CSU is only requiring the vax AFTER FDA gives full Use approval, as opposed to the Emergency approval. And since the 3 current manufacturers have yet to submit their application for full approval, it is highly unlikely that the feds will approve prior to August move-in dates.
@bluebayou Sorry I forgot to include that. I am hopeful approval will be given and vaccines required. Just my opinion.
Nah.
My daughterās private university in CA notified students that if they want to attend class in-person or live in campus housing next fall, they will need to be vaccinated. If they are eligible for exemption, they will be required to participate in Covid testing.
Someone else may have mentioned already, but the Univ of MD system (I live in MD) just announced vaccines will be required at all schools within the UMD system.
So far, my older sonās private college in NY has not announced anything, but Iām sure that decision is coming based on all the emails we have been getting.
My younger son will be a freshman next year at a private university in OH but I havenāt seen any requirements announced yet.
All four of my kids are already vaccinated.
Summary
Beginning tomorrow more than 50 vaccine sites in CT will no longer require an appointment!
As of yesterday in San Diego County:
Beginning today, all County-hosted COVID-19 vaccine sites are open for walk-up, no-appointment-required vaccinations. The walk-up vaccines will be available while supplies last each day at that site.
The County will continue to offer vaccination appointments that can be scheduled online but will also set aside doses each day for walk-ups.
Making an appointment should be a piece of cake now, right? Not so fast in my neck of the woods. Looked up what is availableā¦ terrible. Rite Aid - still has that stupid pre-screen questionnaire asking you for occupation, city, DOB, and medical conditions. Only after that you are allowed to see a list of pharmacies that might have an appointment. What a PITA. Kaiser - only for members and login required. PiTA as well. Walmart - register to see availability. No thanks. Walgreens - same deal. City sites allow walk ins but only if you are over 60. Otherwise, provide your data and we will email you. No guarantee of times and dates and type of vaccine (unless you are 16-17). Some sites seem to offer vaccines to locals only, some say call this numberā¦ Sites that let you see availability first then grab an appointment and register seem to be popular (slots go quickly). Do our officials realize that this does not help convince vaccine reluctant folks to make an appointment? If I am on the fence about this whole vaccine thing or canāt leave their job at random, make it as easy as pie for me to register! Iām not even talking about difficulties of finding a second appointment! End of rant.
(I found appointments for us for the specific times we wanted, so we are good.)
Umm- I think you have to be a resident of Florida. I am glad my mom didnāt wait around for the government vaccine site- she still wouldnāt be fully vaccinated.
I donāt know how ātons of visitorsā were vaccinated.
