CPP vs Chico State for animal science

I have already been accepted to Chico state, but not CPP. But if I do get accepted I want to know what school I should choose. Chico state has a beautiful campus and I am not really concerned about it being a party school . My only concerns is that the education level might not be high enough for me to be successful for veterinary school . Cal Poly Pomona seems great except for the campus does not seem like it I very nice. And also , the dorms seem pretty bad and I have to live on campus. But I love that Cal Poly has horses because I think I want to focus on equine science. But can anyone help me with what school to choose ?

I am not a student at either campus, but have been to both several times, have known students at both, and am pretty familiar with the areas. (Real students, feel free to contradict me).

Chico is indeed a very pretty campus and the town is very nice, too. Just the same, I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice CPP’s campus really is. It is actually tucked in the hills and across a couple of freeways from the the main part of the city of Pomona, which is a bit of a good thing (take a look at both using the Earth view on Google Maps).

While there is a higher percentage of first-year students living on campus at Chico, both campuses have less than 10% of sophomores through seniors living there. The biggest differences in off-campus housing are 1) that Chico seems to do a little better job of helping students find off-campus housing, 2) CPP seems like more of a commuter campus (more students still living with parents), 3) off-campus housing in Chico is actually in Chico, while the best off-campus housing at CPP is in Walnut, Phillips Ranch, Diamond Bar, and San Dimas (communities that are actually closer to campus than downtown Pomona - which again, is a bit of a good thing). I can’t speak to the academic part of your question, but thanks to the Kellogg family, CPP definitely has some beautiful Arabian horses at its Equine Sciences Center!
