I’m not sure as to which look only at CR+M, but, for most, CR+M is way more important than writing, because they can get your writing style and such from your essays.

^Maybe, not; I’ve read that writing is a better predictor of college performance than critical reading and math.

I don’t think that any of the SAT is actually that great a predictor. I’ve heard that of a lot of different predictors, the SAT is one of the worst. Plus, the actual essay portion is a total crapshoot, it’s all a formula, etc.

We heard from several admissions officers that they ignore the writing test because it is not a good measure of writing ability. It only shows that you can write fast, not well and there are issues with the grading. Bucknell specifically said that.
I don’t know how you can search for schools that don’t use it though :_(

This article is really old but relevant:
[Many colleges ignore SAT writing test, frustrating high school students. - The Boston Globe](http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2007/09/20/many_colleges_ignore_sat_writing_test/?page=full)

Idk how relevant; the writing section was still relatively new and the data was still forthcoming. I agree the essay section really doesn’t tell anything and I didn’t say the SAT is a good predictor of anything- just that writing is a better predictor than CR and math.

any particular schools besides Georgetown and Cornell?

hedgewig – if there are any specific schools you care about, you can either check out what they say in their Common Data Sets, or call the admissions office.

U Chicago doesn’t use the SAT writing.
