Which section(s) is most important among three sections of the SAT reasoning when an admission officer evaluates your overall profile? Some said that CR and Math are more important than Writing but I am not sure.
Does CR or/and Math really matter when you compare them with WR?

I’m not aware of any major university that is using the W section as a deciding factor. However, the total of CR + M is looked at very closely. Someone who is going to major in math (and sciences) would be expected to have a high M section. International students whose 1st language is not English frequently get lower CR scores, which is also understood. Humanities students sometimes get a “break” when their M score is much lower than CR.

My daughters are both at a major public university that is very numbers-oriented in admissions and determination for scholarships. However, if someone has something compelling that can make up for less-than-stellar test scores, it gets them consideration that they may not have had otherwise. However, the majority of their admissions decisions are based on SAT and GPA, and do not really consider whether CR or M is higher. It was the individual departments that awarded merit aid that were likely tied to specific SAT performance.

writing scores don’t matter as much which is too bad for me since my best score was on that section… and yeah, critical reading and math are both important, and it depends on what programs you’re applying for, your gpa trend, etc., so if you’re more math-science oriented they’ll expect to see a high math score and a slightly lower critical reading score is ok, and vice versa.
