I know Wesleyan is known for its creative writing, but would it be a appropriate for my D to send in a small sample of her work with her application? I see they take supplements in music, art, etc. but I don't see a place where they address sending in some fiction or poetry. Thanks for any advice or info!

Last year (Class of 2010), my D included a couple of short writing pieces with her application (admitted ED). So, I think your D will be fine if she does this. But keep them short.

DO NOT send them. Did you read "The Gatekeepers"? They won't look at them and are usually annoyed instead of interested.

I sent a few poems in with my app last week. Creative writing is my strong suit. If an admissions board can't be bothered to put a little extra time into reading my application, then I'm not sure it's a school I want to be at.

The guy in "The Gatekeepers" sent a long manuscript, however - not just a couple of poems. And, he was ultimately accepted anyway, because the high quality of his writing shone through in his essay :D
