I'm a full IB Diploma Candidate and I was wondering if WashU will accept any of the credits I'm slaving over in the Programme. I've heard a mixed bag of responses about credit acceptance from all over and thats pretty annoying seeing how much more rigorous and intensive IB is than AP. It seems like every other school outside of the US accepts fulfilling the "International" part of International Baccalaureate...but please tell me the Wash U accepts IB credit.

I'm almost positive they do-at least I hope so, since i would like those credits.

"Most departments at Washington U. will accept for credit and placement a score of 4 or 5 on the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) tests or a score of 5 or better on the higher-level International Baccalaureate (IB) exams. Official score reports should be sent to the appropriate dean’s office after admission has been granted. No credit is granted for CLEP exams, standard-level IB exams, correspondence work, or departmental placement exams given by another institution."

Requirements & Credit

If you feel that your IB SL classes are rigorous enough, you should probably take the AP test for that class to prove your mastery.

I'm pretty certain that when I got their guidebook it said they gave credit for 6s and 7s.

Wait, only higher level IB tests? darn...

Washington University appears to have one of the more vague policies of universities regarding IB as it makes no reference to the full Diploma.

Does Washington University accept credit from Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate examinations?
Depending on the subject, a score of 4 or 5 on the AP exams or a score of 5 or better on the higher-level IB exams may result in advanced placement in an appropriate subject at Washington University, and may result in credit being awarded. Credit will not be given for scores of 3 or lower on the AP exams, 4 or lower on the higher-level IB exams, or any score on the standard-level IB exams. Follow this link for a full online listing of AP scores accepted in the College of Arts & Sciences. Please Note: The maximum number of credit units accepted toward a Bachelor’s degree in Arts & Sciences or Architecture earned through Advanced Placement awards is 15. The College of Art students (Bachelor of Fine Arts) are awarded all credit that they earn. The maximum number of credit units accepted toward a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree earned through Advanced Placement awards is 30

Suggestion - Towson Univ., SUNY Binghamton and Cornell all look very favorably on the IB Diploma.

Thanks all especially ObserverNY. I would be looking at Cornell otherwise but they don't offer Graphic Design like Wash U does.
