I've noticed that many schools want only sophomore or junior transfers (duh) and that they express this, sometimes, with credit hour limits. The thing is, I'm a second semester freshman, and because of the credit I earned through APs in high school, and the courseload I've taken, I already have 49 credit hours.

Which means that if I don't get into the school I want this year, I'll be applying next year as a junior. I know that all/most/many of the hours won't transfer, but will most schools still permit me to apply? Is this usually a problem? I can't possibly be the only one...any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same problem...because I had high school transferable credit and AP scores...at the end of this year (my first college year) I will have close to 60 credits...I found that the best thing for transfer students to do is to call or email the school you want to go to and they will give you the answer as to whether you are able to apply this year or not....plus, they may be able to do a preliminary review of your credits and tell you exactly what will transfer...that is what I did...I called all of the schools I was interested and they told me whether or not I could apply (btw, they all said that I could apply now and that I should apply as a junior transfer)..I assume the same will go with you...just call them and they will be very helpful
