I'm a senior, and by the end of this semester I should have 7 AP tests with a score of 4+. I know this sounds like I'm counting chickens, but I have A's in all of the APs I'm in already and after taking some last year I don't really feel threatened by the APs. I think there's one where I might not nag a four, but I think I can count on at least 6.

Now, the school I'm heading to will give me 18-23 credit hours for these scores, and up to 7 course credits. Some schools do not allow transfers with more than a certain number of credits... will credits earned in this manner affect my opportunities to transfer? If I transfer at all, I imagine I would do so after my sophomore year, but the aforementioned credit hour limits are a little worrysome. Does anyone know how this would be treated?

You need to transfer your first year most likely. That's what I did. I have 24 units out of the 60 needed to transfer from APs and they went towards my IGETC. The units will transfer over differently though when you actually get to a 4 year university so make sure the total is 60 semester/90 quarter units after looking at their specific policies. You can also choose not to transfer them over to your CC and instead let them count towards empty units at a 4 year school but it's not advisable.

I'm going to a four-year from the onset. I want to have transferring open as an option, but I'm not totally sure that it'll be for me. It's a maybe, I just don't want to close any doors.

It depends on how competitive the school you try to transfer is because the more comepetive don't always take a) any ap or b) the same scores (they may only take a 5) ... but, say you get credit for micro and you take intermediate micro, they wouldnt make you go back and take micro (i dont think), so i think they evaluate it on a case to case, since it will have effected the courses you take

Are transfer deadlines similar to freshman app deadlines? If I wanted to enter a different school beginning with my sophomore year, I would be expected to get recommendations and so forth after only a semester at school, correct?
