Credit /no credit

hey guys i'm taking this piano class for Credit/No credit and i don't need it for anything i just took it, and its not going so well. if i get a NC, will that hurt my admission to the UC's?

I'm in the same boat except my situation has to do with w's I guess we will have to wait and see if it will. I'll let you know if it does soon as I hear word, let us know if it affected you also.

I'm also taking a three classes CR/NC this semester and no, for your situation, I don't think they'd even consider that class "unless it was in your major", which I assume it's not. I wouldn't worry about it.....

what about me michelle? those classes I dropped weren't in my major either but I will have w's for them do you think it will affect my admission?

this class has absolutely nothing to do with my major, IGETC, or any other requirements. can anyone else say anything about my situation?

I would beg the professor to give me CR grade. I'm talking throw your pride out the window explain how minute this class is and ask for him/her to give you CR it really won't affect them if you get CR and you'd be surprised how many professors pass students with situations similar to yours.

thanks bro, but this guy has no heart. He's a real looser who got no where and now he's taking his revenge out on innocent students. I never missed a single class or assignment, but I supposedly "dont play good enough" even though this is only beginners piano.

yeah I dunno what to say I went through a couple of professors like that but you have to bite the bullet and get on their good side. Dont stop attending class and even try seeing him during his office hours and ask him what he suggests in improving your skills usually and it might not work with this loser but usually they see you going to their office hours as a sign that you really want to pass that class. Does he know you are taking the class for CR/NC or is everyone in there graded on that basis? BUt yeah bro like I said I been through a couple of losers almost like it makes them feel bigger to know that someone struggles in something they believe they are superior in. Damn napoleon-complex bastrds.

lol, ya brother, i hear you. you can get a letter grade in the class, but i'm taking it on a credit/no credit basis. but we'll see what happens. thanks for your support!

Mexbruin.....frankly, I've had a W every semester that I was here, so counting everything I might have around 5 W's in class that were outside of my major. I wouldn't worry too much about it. In fact, I have a W this semester, but I chose not to take the course because I just needed units for Fin. Aid. at the time. It's on perogative to drop a course for any reason. That's life and the colleges know that. If it were a big deal than I wouldn't have been accepted in the schools I was accepted at. If that makes any sense.....anyway, it's early.

Secondly, as long as the course is "outside" of your major, not for IGETC, and you still have over 60 units, I don't think there should be a problem either way. The only time one should worry is when their last semester didn't go so well and your cumulative GPA drops dramatically, as it states in the Provisional Admission guidelines. It doesn't state anywhere regarding CR/NC instance, nor did it talk about W's......so I think they're trying to see if a student finishes well and in time to complete all requirements by the previous Spring semester.....

But in everything.....I'd definitely talk to Admission to confirm it and have any fears allayed. :-)

i can also drop the class and get a "W", which would make it 3 w's for me. so which is better, a NC or W? the other 2 classes which i got a W were biology with lab and US history, which i retook and got a B and A respectively. Please guys, i need your feed back

I'd go with the w as a last option in i other words there would have to be no way in hell for me passing that piano class. just kick a** man.
