Credits for international students?

I go to school in Germany, and many of my classes are definetely US-college level, although they aren't really AP classes. I know that some schools give credit for people who have an Abitur. Has anyone had experiences with this that they could share with me? did you have to take an exam to get the credit, or do they just "give it to you", because the international admissions officers are familiar with the curriculum?

I have the exact same question, was just about to post it!

Send a PM to b@r!um who posts in the International Student Forum and ask her. She may be able to put you in touch with more students from Germany.

You also could pay a visit to the closest office of EducationUSA, and ask the counselors there. They work with students like you all of the time and should be able to let you know which US colleges/universities give advanced placement for the German Abitur.
