My DS is a direct admit to Kelley; however, only has general scholarship application. He received a Dean’s early action scholarship. He is OOS. He has a 4.0 GPA and 1420 SAT. What is the criteria to be considered for the SSA or Hutton Honors?
HHC admission criteria => http://www.indiana.edu/~iubhonor/hds/admissions.php
Those who meet the criteria are automatically invited to HHC and they get a separate invitation to complete SSA application online.
My son got admitted to IU on Oct 19 followed by SSA invitation on Oct 21 and HHC invitation was Oct 31.
@CWAE182025, It looks like SAT was little less to qualify for HHC.
They don’t explicitly release SSA criteria. It probably changes slightly each year depending on the applicant pool. I think your son’s stats would be good enough for SSA, though.
This link is very helpful. We will try to petition and see what happens. Thank you!
Good luck! I did the SSA last year and IU has been very generous (also I’ve kind of fallen in love with the school, as much as I wanted UChicago in high school). Those numbers look solid, but regardless of the outcome, there is a wealth of opportunity here. For your son… Overall, I would advise trying to let go of stress about sent apps as that won’t change the result. Just know that you will enjoy the school you end up at and the skills you had in high school aren’t going anywhere. Having been in similar shoes a year ago, I just want HS Seniors to know that things will take care of themselves after they send that app away. God bless!
