Hey everyone,

I always turn to this forum whenever I am confused or need a question answered about the SAT. Critical reading seems to be my weakest point, and I can never reach over a 600. When I look through the forum I always see advice on finding patterns and discovering the "nature" of the CR section. I wanted to dedicate this thread to anyone who would like to post what they discovered about the CR (patterns, etc.) to help out people like me, who are just too simple-minded to figure out the patterns themselves. Also, if you do list anything, please indicate how much your discovery, or startegy raised your score.

Thanks in advance

I was scoring about a 620-630 CR so I bought the Barron's 2400 guide. It really helped my passage-based question answering. I found the vocab hard to on the March SAT so practice the sparknotes list.

No joke...I hated CR. The highest I got my CR to was a 630 :(

though it is not my position to give you perfect advice on this(I've got 750 on my prep =(, of course this would be my highest score...),why don't you consider each of the CR section as a game? I know that it does not make any sense, but if you do not think of the time limit as serious as possible, and become more flexible on this matter, I think you could score even higher than before.

You have to find out a way to solve why you choose wrong answer choices. If there's a lot of missed ones, you have to think that your method to approach the question has some problems, have to find out a way how not to miss the questions.

Just read it and then answer the quesrtion. Take the time to read it and you'll find that you don't need to go back as much. On the ACT I Scored a 32 the ACT version of the Critical Reading section.

My score; 800 -- you just have to make sure that you answer the question that is asked. Just remember that CR requires basically no prior knowledge and that the answer has to be in the passage/question.
