Critical Reading Preparation for SAT - questions on Blue Book

<p>Hi, I'm studying for CR section of Blue Book, and I have some questions that I can't really figure out. The book only gives out answers on some of the questions on the Blue Book, and although I check the answers and grade my choices, it's pointless because they don't offer any explanations behind the answers.</p>

<p>On pg. 93, Question number 23:</p>

<p>I understand why the choices (A), (C), and (D) are wrong, but I can't really tell why choice (B) is incorrect. The answer was (E), but isn't (E) and (B) basically the same thing? Why (E) but not (B)?</p>

<p>It is not B, because the early “Bottom” described is literal, despite descriptive and metaphorical language. The focus is on the town itself, not the authors former goals. E is best because it notes the transformation and the author chooses words that demonstrate sadness. </p>

<p>I recommend getting the black book for explanations of some questions, if you dont have it already.</p>
