Hi! I'm going to be a junior the upcoming year and just started thinking seriously about college. I have been running for two years and earned varsity letters.
Times:
1 mile- 5:00
800m-2:10
5k-17:30

My question to you is, do you think I will stand out from the other student-athlete applicants at Williams. Keep in mind that I have 2 more cross country seasons to improve before I apply for college. Thanks a lot!

Suggestion ... go to the web-site of the schools in which you are interested and look up the track and XC teams ... most sites will have rosters where you can check the PRs (HS and college) of the team members. At 5:00 I doubt you're going to get an admissions pull from running at Williams (or other NESCAC schools) ... but I'd be surprised if any of the NESCAC schools cut people from their XC and track teams and I would guess they would happily have you join if you go there. (I do not know enough about their programs to guess if as a 5:00 miler you would would participate in a lot of away or league/championship meets).

Most teams in Williams don't cut (apart from the Squash team i guess, where almost everyone is recruited) but to get a pull from the admissions or more, a tip from the coach, you must really stand out athletically.

Given your times, you have to rely on your academics to get in. Nevertheless, the fact that you run xc proves that you are well rounded and Williams loves well rounded students.
