I'm a high school junior. I run cross country for my high school and I'm interested in running in college. Does Williams have a qualifying time needed to be part of the cross country team? I want a school with great academics, and I know Williams fits that request.

Right now my 5k time is around 19:00 on a cross country course. Is there anyone out there who knows whether I have to run a certain time in order to be on the Williams team? And would the cross country team be my path into admission, rather than applying like everyone else?

The Williams cross country team has no cuts whatsoever. The top women are fast and place at Nationals, but slow women are not cut (good thing, because some of them become fast!) You should apply like everyone else, but you should also contact Pete Farwell so that he knows you’re interested in running. To quell your fears of being cut from the team, check out last year’s results: http://wso.williams.edu/orgs/xc/2008results.htm

im injured right now, but before i got sidelined i was able to run about 17:20-17:30ish on a track, and about 10:25-30 for a 2mile…would this help me in any way or would i have to be much better for my running to affect me?

My 5k times (Im a guy) hover a bit over 17 minutes. I have no idea how this translates to an 8k but is that fast enough to help me get into williams? I know they have no cuts but what are typical high school times for a williams runner? Track and field times are fine too; I run year round and my mile is about 4:40, 800m is about 2:05.
