Crush my dreams of Stanford!

I'm tired of having a little sliver of hope. Please crush my dreams now so I'm not upset when I get rejected from Stanford. I'm serious.

Senior

Major: I said Undecided :p

-Unweighted GPA 4.0

-Weighted GPA 4.2

Course difficulty - I have been taking a lot of honors courses, but no one takes AP at my school and I didn't really think about self-studying or anything until recently. This semester I'm taking calculus, physics, world hist, US Gov and Pol (at comm. college), and music.
I am concurrently enrolled at a local community college where I have taken German 1-4, English 201A and 201C, and Precalculus.

Class Rank: I do independent studies with a small private school. 1/25

SAT 1 Superscored 720CR 730M 800W Comp: 2250

SAT 2: 770 Math II 760 Literature

EC's: Principal 2nd and Concertmaster of the local youth symphony in the past. This year I think I am co-concertmaster. I also volunteer with the youth symphony by coaching younger kids in the symphony.
Publicity Director at a Scholastic Honor Society that does volunteer work at my community college
^I don't really have a lot of opportunities for EC's because I am not really part of a school.
I do some sports, but I'm not on a team. I'm also interested in photography and art, but I do that on my own as well.

HONORS/AWARDS: Cal Poly All-State Festival Symphony Concertmaster
National Merit Commended
Applied for and received private art showing
Just won a local concerto competition... not sure if I should send them something about that.
Honor roll at school

Essays: Hard to say... not sure how to evaluate my writing. Other people say it's good, but it's hard to know.

Recs: Knew teachers, and they liked me and were impressed with me... didn't see recs though.

Additional Info:

Race: White

Gender: Male

Location: In-state, central coast

Family's Situation: Not from hard background

Arts supplement: Yes. Sent two. Unfortunately, I had just begun my concerto a month or two before, so it was less well done than I would have liked.

All of this is extremely impressive, and you probably do have a better shot at Stanford than the average applicant, but remember…

A lot of times - highly selective schools like Stanford are a crapshoot.

It’s not like they have an “ideal student”, what they’re looking for is constantly changing and evolving.

So just think of it like winning the lottery. A girl I knew went to Yale, while the people I thought were wayyy more accomplished ended up going to UofT or UBC.

Best of luck :)

Please chance back!

Stanford is fine to have as a reach but what’s your safety?

The art/concert stuff clearly sets you apart. Sorry not to be more pessimistic. Hopefully you also applied to UCB. Being instate Cali should be a huge plus. GL

I’ve thought about it so much and looked at actual results threads, and I just have this feeling that I don’t have enough things to make me stand out and a few things that will hurt me.

Safeties: UCD, Cal Poly SLO

Matches: UCSD,

Reaches: Berkeley, Tufts, Stanford

I will crush them. You won’t get into Stanford because your writing score is too weak.

thank you lol… actually my essay was a nine so I guess I was lucky to get an 800.

UCD: Safety
Cal Poly SLO: Safety
UCSD: Low match
Berkeley: Match (can you pay full-freight to an UC?)
Tufts: Low reach

oh and USC

Yeah, I can pay full freight. I’m not applying for financial aid.

I’ll crush them as well. I didn’t like your art supplements they weren’t complete enough.

Stanford is a reach…but you might get lucky

good luck!
