Crushed Dreams :( Please Help!

Guys,
My dream was YALE.
But today morning my computer screen crushed this dream.
My SAT Oct score is 1800.
I am a merit student and my GPA is 4.0
But still this has happened.
I cannot understand what to do.
Please help me people.
Any suggestions?

Pay the late free and register for the November test?

Chill ur gpa is beast just write a crazy essay

It happens. Pay late fee, and take again, Take in December too. Take ACT if you can. Sometimes familiarity with the test will improve scores.

^ That’s presumptuous.

But you should probably retake.

I’d just retake if I were you. It’s not the end.

Remember Yale is not the be all and end all and there are probably lots of schools you would love! Look around!

Don’t just retake unless and until you actually take the time to practice a lot so you can actually make a difference. Doing the same thing over and over doesn’t really help.

What’s your usual score range…?

Are you a senior?

Um well this may not be PC but if your asian or white retake black hispanic or NA I think that score will pass. A white or asian applicant needs at least 2200+ to have a shot at getting in, if you look at SilverTurtle’s post about statistics of acceptees you’ll see some very alarming info, your average sat score for acceptees is about 2350 for W + A and 2000 for B Hispanics

Dorkyelmo: My usual score range is between 2100-2250.
purpleacorn : I am a junior.

^ If that’s your usual score, maybe they graded it wrong?

yea if u were getting 2100-2150 on practice tests timed, then something had to have gone wrong. Retake in november at a DIFFERENT location…

^ Or just do a re-score.

OP, you are a junior, do not re-take so soon. Take it in March or June 2012. You have plenty of time. Spend the time studying and practicing. Also take ACT in June. No rush to re-take right away. These posters were thinking you are a senior.

Maybe you were overly nervous?

If you’re a junior there is absolutely no reason to be crushed… just retake it in January or March or June… you get a start on the process before most of your classmates did, so there’s no reason to feel like your chances are completely shot.

If thats your regular score then definitely retake in november if you can or december. The same thing happened to me on my first SAT…about 300 points below what I got on practice tests. In may/oct I got my score up to my usual average, actually probably above my average. It happens sometimes, especially if its your first time taking it. Maybe you were nervous who know I would say to definitely retake.

You’re a junior, so you have time! Unfortunately, Yale will see the 1800, but that shouldn’t prevent you. Failure to meet expectations should motivate you to do better. Study. Practice. Study. But don’t underestimate luck and chance. So prepare for the worst!

Just retake it and you’ll be fine
