I am an OOS student at a community college. My GPA is 3.94 and I have ~52 credit hours. I would like to apply as a spring transfer to UT-Austin for computer science.

I do not have many ECs. However, I have been working at a small property management company for the last year and I am a math and science tutor at my current college.

What do you think my chances are?

Also, I will have completed all of the following classes before the spring semester:
Calculus I, II, III
Physics I
Chemistry I
Introduction to Computer Science

and all of my gen eds will be completed.

Any opinions?

I would hope that you have decent resume since you are an OOS. Do you have work experience or any extra-curricular activities? Make sure you put them on your resume when you apply. Also, be sure to take you essays seriously.

As for your grades, you are a shoe-in, it seems, even for OOS transfers. Computer Science is not a competitive major as far as admissions are concerned so if you are accepted to the College of Natural Sciences, you should be accepted as a CS major. Granted, there are exceptions to every case and you may just generally get accepted to the University, I don’t see the chance of that happening to you to be very high.

Best of luck…I’m a sophomore, CompSci Major that just transferred in this session and Calculus is kicking my ass. I wish I would have taken it/learned it before transferring.

Yeah my resume looks pretty good in my opinion. I have been working since I was 16. I don’t have many extra curricular activities, but I do have over 150 hours of community service.

And yeah, it seems like calculus at community colleges is really easy, while at universities its generally pretty hard lol. Glad I’ll have it all done before I transfer.

Thanks for the feedback! Gonna work on my second essay tomorrow lol
