According to this any bio major starting from 2009 going to be impacted though.
enrollment management

aw, i'm no longer special. =(

ouch, bio majors?

They unimpacted it? Wow. I didn't think a major would ever become unimpacted... And, for the record, I think unimpacted SHOULD be a real word (if it isn't already).

And it's about time bio was impacted... I'm sick of seeing wait lists on the already gargantuan classes. Too bad it won't take effect immediately...

oh sweetness, bio is going to be impacted? nice! but i echo lifetranscends' thoughts...shame that it can't be immediately. i'm sick of being waitlisted for all of my bio classes and having to take a ton of units every quarter just to improve my enrollment time. at least this will help future students.

just so people applying don't get all angry, look at it from a different perspective. there are some 5000 bio majors on campus (20-25% of the UG population) and it's ridiculous trying to sign up for classes and organize everything, though they're doing an amazing job right now. and dont worry, you can still get into med school with a non-bio major. ;)

i cant believe theyre impacting bio
thats crazy!!

Haha! Score one for the current bio majors!

_< I thought biological sciences was already impacted.

ugh doesn't that make it harder to get into bio sciences?

Pretty much. It sucks for new bio students, but those of us who are already bio majors can only benefit from this.

There's already such a high flux of bio majors that only the borderline mid-upper tier students will benefit.

If you are already highly competitive--unaffected

If you were just brazing through with something under a 3.5, you're likely to slowly fall to the bottom of the class curves.

Remember, with UCSD's tradition of relative grading systems--especially in the bio sciences--impacting a major to eliminate weaker students makes it that much harder to excel over everyone else.
