Is the CSS form deadline (Nov. 1st for EA) an absolute if I am applying for financial aid?

I'm asking this because I am at a dilemma. My parents refuse to fill it out and by the time I convince them, it might be past the deadline.

If you don’t get in your financial aid documentation in time, you’ll just get your financial aid package later (should you be accepted).

Why are they refusing to fill it out? If they don’t, they can’t get financial aid…

Thanks
and my family is in between lower class and middle class, so my parents doubt I’ll get enough financial aid (which is an completely asinine reason not to fill it out). I don’t mind taking out loans in my name because I don’t want to have my parents shoulder my burdern. However, my reasoning is that they don’t want me to attend UChicago.

Well, you can maybe explain to them how silly it is to refuse themselves financial aid because they’re worried they won’t receive enough financial aid. If you’re lower-middle-class you WILL be offered aid and if your parents aren’t willing to pay that much, you can just take out loans equal to the difference.
