Both of my parents attended local community college and got A.A.S degrees. Does this count for them attending college/university since their programs were >2 years long? Or since that’s not typically what people think of a “college degree,” should I put their highest level of education as High School?
Community college is college, so you can’t just put high school. What are your choices?
The options are:
Middle school/Jr. High
High School
College/university or beyond
Other/unknown
My dad’s program was A.A.S in Automotive Repair, and my mom’s was an A. A. S. Systems Analyst, and later got an A.A. in the same program.
Then I’d choose college. Is there a place to note they went to community college?
CSS Profile asks: “What is the highest level of education this parent completed?” and that is high school in this case, I think. Anyway the admissions folks will get this info from the common app, not the profile, I’m not sure why the Profile even asks since it’s not directly relevant to financial aid but maybe some take that into account.
I’d say you can choose either one and make a note in the notes/comments area at the end.
