Section K --

One paragraph states, "If you are giving information for only one parent and that parent filed (or will file) a joint tax return for 2004, give only that parent's portion of the exemptions, income, and taxes asked for in questions 49 through 55."

I thought if my parent's file joint, I would be reporting both. Should I only report for one? What's this all about?

Would appreciate if someone could help me out here, my parents have given me all their paperwork, but they can't help me fill out the forms.

Thanks!

In most cases you will give info for both parents. The instructions pertain to the too many kids with separated parents. In which case the custodial parent's income only is reported. Th other case is for a remarried parent--the other person on the joint return is not your natural parent. However, Profile tends to go back and get both the non custodial parent and the step parents' info as well so it's just a matter of where you put the info. But if your parents are together and filing joint returns, they are jointly reported.

Many, many thanks!
